How Difficult Is 25 Fontes?
25 Fontes is considered moderate, but it’s very manageable for most active holidaymakers. If you’re comfortable walking for 3–4 hours with some steps and gentle inclines, you’ll be absolutely fine. It’s one of the best “first hikes” in Madeira - adventurous enough to feel special, but not extreme.
Best Time To Hike 25 Fontes
This is one of Madeira’s most popular trails, so timing makes a big difference. The best experience is: Early morning (before 9am) Or later in the afternoon Spring and autumn offer ideal temperatures, but this hike is possible year-round. A guide helps you avoid peak tour bus times and choose the quietest window.
Weather Conditions
25 Fontes is located at higher altitude in Rabaçal, which means it can feel cooler and mistier than Funchal, even when the south coast is sunny. Light rain is common in the mountains, and the trail can be damp underfoot. A light waterproof layer is always a good idea.
